Visit to Cambridge and Collectors’ Evening
Registration is now closed for this exciting IMCoS programme in Cambridge, as we are now full. The visit includes:
Emmanuel College
Cambridge University Library
Polar Museum, Scott Polar Research Institute
Whipple Museum
In addition, Dr Sarah Bendall will give a lecture entitled ‘Oxford and Cambridge Colleges as map-makers and map-users c. 1550-1850′.
The Collectors’ Meeting will be held in the early evening of 12th April at the Hilton Hotel. The Museums will be visited in the afternoon of 12th April, and the College and Library on Friday 13th April.
The cost of the visit will be £35 per head. Attendance at the Collectors’ Meeting only will cost £15 per head. Participants should arrange their own accommodation (but see note concerning the Hilton below). The timetable is as follows:
Thursday 12th April
13.00 Polar Museum, Scott Polar Research Institute. Guided tour of the Museum and viewing of their maps
15.00 Whipple Museum. Guided tour and a talk about the globes and instruments
16.00 Tea at the Hilton Hotel
16.30 Collectors’ Meeting. Please bring an item of interest to show and discuss, either on a memory stick or the real thing!
Evening free
Friday 13th April
10.00 Visit and lecture at Emmanuel College
Lunch free
13.30 Transport to the University Library (if required)
14.00 Visit to the University Library
