Celebration Reception

10 June 2022

Having had to forego our annual meetings in 2020 and 2021, we are happy to be back this year. In June this year IMCoS wishes to celebrate the return to normality by holding a reception where we can at last exchange news and experience face to face with our cartographic friends.

The reception will be held in the James and Charles Suite in the Rembrandt Hotel, London SW7.  This is opposite the Victoria and Albert Museum and in the same South Kensington area as The Royal Geographical Society where our AGM will be held on 11th June and the London Map Fair on 11th and 12th June.  The reception will be followed by the annual Malcolm Young Lecture.

The programme is as follows:

  • 6pm Drinks and canapes
  • 7pm Presentation of the IMCoS/Helen Wallis Award, and a Presentation to our retiring Chairman Hans Kok
  • 7:15pm Malcolm Young Lecture

The lecture will be given by Vivien Godfrey, Chairman and CEO of the Edward Stanford Group, retailer of travel books, maps and globes with a history of  provided maps to countless travellers, adventurers and explorers for the past some 160 years Stanfords.  The title of her talk is ‘Paper maps remain loved in a digital‘.    Her talk will allude to some of the more famous who have purchased maps for their expeditions from Stanfords.

Registration for this event is available online below, or by email to Peter Walker at financialsecretariat@imcos.org.  The price for the reception and lecture is £32 per person.
