Amsterdam Map Fair, 6-7 September 2024
The program for the Amsterdam map fair is now available, including a private presentation to members of IMCoS and BIMCC starting at 10.00 on 7 September.

Program Friday 6 September
- 17.00 – 17.45 A guided tour in “Het Scheepvaart huis” (Hotel Amrath), Pris Hendrikkade 108, 1011 AK Amsterdam. Het Scheepvaarthuis was founded by six shipping companies that joined forces in a specially designed joint office building. The building is one of the highlights of the Amsterdam School, and its glass window decorations with world maps are stunning.
- 18.00 – 19.30 Pre Map-Fair Cocktail reception includes a 1,5-hour boat tour in the Amsterdam canals, starting at 18.00.

Program Saturday 7 September
- 10.00 – Het Scheepvaart Museum, Kattenburgerplein 1, Amsterdam, The Netherlands – Guided view of selected items for members of IMCoS and BIMCC.
- 11.00 – Opening of the fair for VIP guests and members of IMCoS and BIMCC
- 12.00 – Opening of the fair for the general public (with free entry to the fair and the museum)
- 15.00 – Hans D. Kok, the former president of the International Map Society (IMCoS), will give a talk: Is it a sea chart?
- 15.30 – Truusje Goedings, will talk about map coloring. She recently published “Afsetters en meester-afsetters,” a study about hand-colored printed works, such as atlases and illustrations in Bibles.
- 18.00 – Closing of the fair.
- 19.30 – 21.00 – “Navigating with the stars”/Canto Ostinato ligconcert® – Hundreds of stars above you move with the music. You are lying down while the roof moves with the music. This intuitive piano game by the piano duo Sandra and Jeroen van Veen is on the central square of the museum.
