The Malcolm Young Lecture
Forty Years: The study, display and acquisition of maps at the British Library since 1980
Our speaker this year will be IMCoS President Peter Barber. Peter was the Head of Map Collections at the British Library and responsible for the Library’s outstanding collection of 4.25 million maps, views and other cartographic material. He curated the 2006 exhibition ‘London: A Life in Maps’ and the hugely successful 2010 exhibition ‘Magnificent Maps: Power, Propaganda and Art’. He was awarded an OBE for services to cartography in the Queen’s Birthday Honours 2012.
IMCoS Annual Dinner
The Annual Dinner takes place after the Malcolm Young Lecture, at the Army & Navy Club, 36 Pall Mall, London SW1Y 5JN (entrance in St. James’s Square).
The programme for the evening is:
6:20pm Champagne Reception in the Drawing Room
7pm The Malcolm Young Lecture, by Peter Barber in the Pall Mall Room
8pm Dinner, followed by presentation of the Helen Wallis / IMCoS Award
Dress code: Jacket and tie, no jeans.

IMCoS Annual General Meeting
10am (doors open at 9:30am) in The Lowther Room, The Royal Geographical Society (with IBG), 1 Kensington Gore, London SW7 2AR.
The AGM lasts around one hour, and then from 12 noon there is the 2019 London Map Fair in the same building – Saturday 6th 12pm to 7pm & Sunday 7th 10am to 6pm.
